Pakistan junior team couldn’t manage to take the revenge of the senior team as Australia won the Under-19 World Cup by 25 runs. Pakistan young team made a mess of a great chance to give some cheers to their country by claiming the World Cup for 3rd time but their winning streak came to an end against Australia in the final.
Pakistan was always on the top of the Australians in that final but they failed to hold on to it like the senior players and gave it to Australia. Target of 209 was never gonna be the easy one against the fully committed Aussie side but they were on the top of the run chase as well most of the time but at the end they crumbled and fell short of 25 runs despite a fighting innings from the captain Azeem Ghumman.
Star of the World Cup from the Pakistan side Hammad Azam was expected to play another match winning innings as he did throughout this World Cup but he failed for the 1st time in the Tournament which opens the gate of victory for the Australia.
After the loss of the 1st wicket on 15 pakistan gets a good 2nd wicket partnership of 54 between opener Ahmad Shahzad and Babar Azam, When Shahzad was looking good to make a way of victory for Pakistan he got out lbw in the 15th over and after that wickets fell in the regular intervals.
Score was 11 for 4 when he finisher for Pakistan in the tournament Hammad Azam (0) played a loose shot to Hazlewood which was taken cleanly by the keeper and that was the time when Australia stars to dominate the proceedings.
Captain Azeem Ghumman (41) was determent for the victory but he was having no support from his other partners who kept losing their wickets and pressure was increasing all the time on the captain to take them home and finally Pakistan’s superb effort in the World Cup ends up in a loosing way.
Australia v Pakistan, U-19 World Cup final, Lincoln
Hammad Azam was the 'Super Star' of the tournament for Pakistan in the World Cup
Australia 207 for 9 (Richardson 44, Sarmad Bhatti 3-33) beat Pakistan 182 (Ghumman 41, Hazlewood 4-30, Doran 3-32) by 25 runs
Hazlewood was the man for the Australia side who destroyed Pakistan batting when it mattered the most, captaincy was also remarkable from the Australian captain Marsh who never gave easy singles to the Pakistani batsmen and always keep the pressure on by bringing fielders in the circles rather than to protect the boundaries and this strategy works big time as Pakistani batsmen kept loosing wickets playing ridiculous shots.
Spinners from the Australian side was also a treat to watch, they fully supported their captain’s decision of bringing the fielders in by some tight bowling, they gave nothing to Pakistan batsmen but the Pakistani players also didn’t tried to take them on which helps the Australians to keep increasing the pressure on them as they did in great style.
Australia posted 207 batting 1st despite getting into trouble 5-83 but they played solidly as expected from the Australians and managed to make a fighting total who proved enough for them to won the World Cup.
This World Cup was a great journey for Pakistan but they failed to pull the big one but never mind, Pakistan was unbeaten throughout the tournament by playing some solid and full of spirit cricket unlike the Pakistan national team, this Under-19 conforms that there is no worry for the Pakistan cricket in the future because there are still lots of talent in the Pakistan which can serve the country at any time.
