Australian fast bowlers put their team on the edge of another clean-sweep against Pakistan at Bellerive Oval. Chasing 438 Pakistani batsmen looked unthoughtful against Australian attack. Before the rain arrives close of days play Pakistan need another 335 to win with 6 wickets remaining.
Mohammad Yousuf , Salman Butt , Imran Farhat and Umar Akmal all looked very defensive in their approach as they knew that there is no chance of the record run chase so better be playing defensive but this seems to be worked in the fever of Australians who took advantage of their defensive tactics and bowled stumps to stumps and took wickets.
Shane Watson displayed a wonderful spell of reverse swing and make Pakistani players think. Yousuf became his victim just before the tea with the beautiful in swinger and same case happened with Umar Akmal who also got out lbw.
Salman Butt the inform player got an almost unplayable delivery from Bollinger which come back and hit the stumps, at that time pitch was just starting to showing some wear and tear as expected. Imran Farhat was caught behind on the bowling of Siddle, his shot wasn’t a good one although it was a good delivery.
Australia v Pakistan, 3rd Test, Hobart, 4th day
Mohammad Yousuf again failed to play any big innings for Pakistan on Australia tour
Pakistan 301 and 4 for 103 (Manzoor 17*, Akmal 3*) need another 335 runs to beat Australia 8 for 519 dec and 5 for 219 dec (Katich 100, Ponting 89)
Khurram Manzoor played solidly and Shoaib Malik as well, both are at the crease with the hopes of Pakistan’s survival in the match because after them there is nothing serious left in the batting department.
Earlier Ponting and Katich came out to bat with the positive intent to score runs quickly and give more time to their bowlers to bowl at Pakistan they did it in style. Simon Katich at last scores his 1st century 100 of the series with the brilliant innings of Ricky Ponting who missed out on a hundred but both score their runs very quickly and make batting looks very easy on that pitch which isn’t the case with the Pakistanis.
Inconsistency of batting line up is become more and more weird and they have to solve this issue as quickly as possible because they can’t survive against better teams with their becoming famous batting claps.
